Like death knights, players have the option of playing a warrior on all races in World of Warcraft. Some players find them awkward to level up with, and limited in their abilities in PvP (player vs player) arenas, but others find them a lot of fun to play.
Why Choose to Play as a Warrior?
Jaguier, a level 85 Dwarf Warrior on the Blade's Edge US server, said: "Warriors are one of the funnest classes to play in wow. Hands down. Now that may be my opinion, but I've tried lvling (sic) other classes but I can't do it. Every other class is boring or just a pain, but warriors are exciting, simple, and just plain old fun to play. Not to mention, we're very durable and have some self heals which aren't half bad."
And Squirrelnut, a level 85 Orc Warrior on the US Ner'zhul server, agreed. He said: "Warriors are the bearded, smash your face, build rage from killing you or you killing me and find the nearest object to beat you over the head with it class. We may get nerfed every patch and we may be less viable then most any other melee class in the game but we will ALWAYS find a way to make it work and stroke our beards while doing it."
Famous Warriors in World of Warcraft
Varian Wrynn, the current King of Stormwind, and Cairne Bloodhoof, the former Grand Chieftain of the Tauren, are both warriors. Both have impressive backstories and are an inspiration for young warriors.
Warriors in Dungeons and Instances
Warriors often find themselves in the heart of the action as the tank in a dungeon party. (The tank is the player or players who take the damage dealt by the enemies while the other players attack or heal.) Warriors are well suited to the role as they can take huge amounts of damage, can wear plate armour from level 40, use shields, and have the ability to stun, disarm and reflect enemy spells.
A warrior could alternately choose to go into a dungeon in a damage role, and their ability to wield two weapons from level 20 can make them heavy damage dealers. They also have the versatility to switch to a tanking role if it is needed by simply equipping a shield and switching to a defensive stance.
The main challenge of playing as a warrior in World of Warcraft is to master the class, and many players claim that it is very easy to play as a warrior, but very difficult to master its gameplay.
